Magnesium is a vital mineral for the human body. It helps maintain normal nervous system function, muscle function, energy metabolism, and psychological function, and also helps reduce feelings of tiredness and fatigue.

However, the composition of magnesium supplements can vary greatly. Some products use a single magnesium compound, others combine several forms, and some formulas are supplemented with amino acids or plant-based ingredients.

Therefore, when choosing a magnesium supplement, it's worth considering not only the product name or the amount of magnesium indicated on the front of the packaging. It's important to familiarize yourself with the full composition, recommended daily dose, and timing of consumption.

What is a magnesium compound?

In food supplements, magnesium is used in compounds with other substances. As a result, products may contain different names:

  • magnesium citrate;

  • magnesium bisglycinate;

  • magnesium malate;

  • magnesium taurate;

  • magnesium gluconate;

  • magnesium oxide;

  • other magnesium compounds.

The name of the magnesium compound indicates which substance magnesium is combined with.

A single product may use one or several magnesium compounds. A combination of several forms allows for the creation of a complex composition, but the number of magnesium compounds alone does not reveal all the product's properties.

What to look for when choosing magnesium?

Magnesium content in the recommended daily dose

On the label, it's worth looking not only for the total amount of magnesium compound but also for information on how much magnesium is obtained by consuming the recommended daily dose.

Usually, it also indicates what percentage of the Reference Nutrient Value (RNV) this amount constitutes.

Magnesium compounds used

Different products may use different forms of magnesium or combinations thereof.

When evaluating a product, it's important to consider not only the number of forms but also the total magnesium content, the entire composition, and the consumption recommendations.

Additional ingredients

Magnesium formulas can be supplemented with herbal extracts, amino acids, and other ingredients.

In such cases, it's important to evaluate the entire product formula, not just one of its components.

Time of consumption

Some magnesium supplements are recommended to be taken in the morning, others in the evening. The time of consumption may vary depending on the product's composition and the manufacturer's recommendations.

Why did we create two different magnesium formulas?

"GraSole Magnesium Day" and "GraSole Magnesium Night" are two different formulas with different compositions and recommended consumption times.

"Magnesium Day" is recommended to be taken in the morning, and "Magnesium Night" in the evening, 1–2 hours before bedtime.

These are not the same product in different packages. Both formulas use different magnesium compounds and additional ingredients.
